International Cooperation of UNP

Universitas Negeri Padang has built international cooperation since it was IKIP Padang. UNP had International Cooperation and Research (former Head Drs. Zainil, M.A., Ph.D)., Bureau of Autonomy and Cooperation (former head Drs. Jurlismen Radjab, Dra. Hj. Nurhijrah Gistiatuti, M.Ed., Ed.D). Now, UNP has Office of International Affairs (OIA) since 2011. The Head of OIA UNP is Prof. Dr. Hermawati Syarif, M.Hum. Here, some international cooperation which have been signed with some universities.

  1. The cooperation between Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP Padang, Indonesia) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on November 12, 2001. Both universities agree to have mutual cooperation in the development of teaching, research, and community service. This cooperation covers staff development, exchange of students, and joint research. This MoU is performing on academic related to technology and art. This cooperation was lasted in 5 years.
  2. The cooperation between State University of Padang (UNP Padang, Indonesia) and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Malaysia. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on September 19, 2006 at UPSI Malaysia between Rector of UNP and Naib Conselor of UPSI. Both parties agree to have cooperation in the field of mastering and utilizing science and technology in various aspects. This cooperation covers teaching, research, and community service. This cooperation also includes staff development, exchange of students, and joint research.
  3. The cooperation between Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP Padang, Indonesia) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM Kedah Darul Aman, Malaysia) to promote understanding and goodwill, strengthen cultural ties, and broaden staff and student, experience and horizons. UNP and UMM agree to pursue exchange activities. This exhange activities covers students exchange and academic and administrative staff exchange. The activities may also include exchange of teching and research personnel, exchange of administrative and other professional personnel, collaboration in research projects, collaboration in symposia and other academic meetings, exhange of academic data and information, speacial projects of mutual benefit, teacher improvement to Ph.D. programmes, twinning programmers, and visiting scholar.
  4. The cooperation between Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP Padang, Indonesia) and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM Johor Darul Takzim, Malaysia). Both parties strive to enhance and strengthen their academic cooperation through research and study especially in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and have taken various initiatives to compliment their educational excellence. The area of this cooperation covers the exchange of teaching and research personnel, exchange of administrative and other personnel, exchange of students, collaboration and research projects, and any other areas of cooperation as agreed by the Parties from time to time.
  5. The cooperation between Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP Padang, Indonesia) and The Ohio State University, College of Education and Human Ecology (Columbus, Ohio, USA). Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 2008. The Ohio State University agreed to provide a Teacher Quality and School Leadership graduate non-degree sandwich program for State University of Padang master’s degree program students. This program was sponsored by Directorate General of Quality Improvement of Teachers and Educational Personnel, and Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Republic of Indonesia. This sandwich program was ended on December 15, 2008.
  6. The cooperation between Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP Padang, Indonesia) and Deakin University (DU Australia) and two other universities in Padang (UNAND and IAIN Imam Bonjol) were signed in Jakarta, April 21, 2010. Area cooperation conducted in so many erudite activity: seminar and research, covering: culture, religion, social, economics, business, law, health/medicine, political, arts, education, information and communications, good governance, leadership etc. To fill activity of cooperation which have been signed is mentioned, UNP, Deakin University, UNAND, and IAIN IB had executed international seminar about culture and development, 14-16 December 2010. That seminar work along with three country university in Padang.
  7. The cooperation between Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP Padang, Indonesia), Deakin University (DU, Australia) and Universitas Andalas (Padang, Indonesia) on the establishment of The Australia Indonesia Research Institute for Humanity and Development (AIRIHD). This cooperation was signed on 2011 and run for 5 years. This research institute is situated at UNP Padang which is intended to embrace the diverse research projects that will come from all disciplines within the parties, including health, environment, energy, water, education, policy and politics, business, humanities, and the social sciences.
  8. The cooperation between Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP Padang, Indonesia) and Technical-University Carolo-Wilhelmina (TUC Braunschweig, Germany). In the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed on September 16, 2011, both universities agree to increase academic, scientific and cultural cooperation in the educational programmes for both universities. Both parties wish to undertake in the future activities pursuant to the promotion of knowledge, educational progress and intercultural understanding through collaborative activities which include the exchange of undergraduate and graduate students; exchange of faculty of education members and visiting researchers; joint research actitivities and continuing education programmes; exchage of information and publications, joint publication, student development and research; organize conference, short courses, master classes, and meetings on research issues, handling related cultural activities.
  9. The cooperation between Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP Padang, Indonesia) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM, Malaysia) in the field of Education. The MoU was signed on February 2012 between Rector of UNP and Vice Chancelor of UTM. The scope of cooperation covers the following areas: exchange of scholars and staff, exchange of students, facilitation of in-country work experience for students in relevant fields of studies; joint research and publication, joint seminars, symposiums, workshops, conferences, and other cooperation activities upon which the parties agree.

How To Cooperate

To make cooperation with Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia:

  1. Contact your university’s International Relation Office; please check if your university has already had existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Agreement of Implementation (AoI) with Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia.
  2. If your university has had an existing MoU and wishes to amend or make additional implementation, you may contact Office of International Affairs (OIA) of Universitas Negeri Padang.
  3. If there is no cooperation agreement made so far and you wish to engage with Universitas Negeri Padang, your university may contact Office of International Affairs (OIA) of  Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia.

To make cooperation with Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia’s partners (for faculty members):

  1. Check Universitas Negeri Padang’s partner universities here.
  2. If you find any university (and its faculty) that suits your engagement needs, please contact your Faculty Dean and Office of International Affairs (OIA) of  Universitas Negeri Padang.
  3. Office of International Affairs (OIA) of  Universitas Negeri Padang will approach the partner university and discuss the possibility to make additional implementation.
  4. If there is no available partner university that meets your requirement, you could suggest the university to engage with to your Faculty Dean and Office of International Affairs (OIA) of  Universitas Negeri Padang.
