Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) and University of Illinois Signed a MoU

Represented by Dr. Ardipal M. Pd. as Vice Rector for Asset and Partnership  of Universitas Negeri Padang and K. Peter Kuchinke, Ph. D. as representatives of University of Illinois signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Rector’s Office of UNP. The MoU was signed on Friday, August 22nd, 2014. This ceremony was held as an evidence of UNP and University of Illinois cooperation in several projects in higher education (master and doctor in education). The projects are joining of cultural research, faculty members exchange, academic material exchange, etc.

Before signing the MoU, Ardipal said that this cooperation will include the students and lecturer exchange, also the community services. He hopes that this partnership can help UNP academic members to produce International journals. “We hope that it will increase UNP’s quality, especially from its human resources,” he said, Friday (22/8).

Peter Kuchinke explained that this cooperation involves three universities in America; University of Illinois, Indiana University, and Ohio University. “Four universities have been chosen from Indonesia. They are UNP, IPB, UGM, and UPI,” he informed. Peter added that there are 6 candidates from UNP for interview stage. But, only up to 3 candidates that will be chosen to study in America.

A Post-Graduate Program Specialist, Kay Ikranagara, Ph. D. said that the three of USA universities (University of Illinois, Indiana University, and Ohio University) will send their delegate to come to Indonesian universities which have been chosen before.  She, who works in Higher Education Leadership and Management (HELM), added that the representative of Indiana University has come on June, while the delegate from Ohio University will come soon.  “If the candidates passed all
